SINGAPORE PROGRESSIVE PARTY

The Singapore Progressive Party was the only political party that took part in the 1948 election.
The Singapore Progressive Party was formed on 25 August 1947
Led by three London University Lawyers:Tan Chye Cheng,John Laycock and N.A.Mallal
Made up of English-speaking upper-class professionals
First political party that contested Singapore elections
Believed in gradual self-government
Later merged with another political party to form the Liberal Socialist Party
